Psalm 103

103:1 Bless the Lord, O my soul,

and all that is within me,
bless his holy name!
2 Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and forget not all his benefits,
3 who forgives all your iniquity,
who heals all your diseases,
4 who redeems your life from the pit,
who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy,
5 who satisfies you with good
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.

6 The Lord works righteousness
and justice for all who are oppressed.
7 He made known his ways to Moses,
his acts to the people of Israel.
8 The Lord is merciful and gracious,
slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
9 He will not always chide,
nor will he keep his anger forever.
10 He does not deal with us according to our sins,
nor repay us according to our iniquities.
11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him;
12 as far as the east is from the west,
so far does he remove our transgressions from us.
13 As a father shows compassion to his children,
so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him.
14 For he knows our frame; [1]
he remembers that we are dust.

15 As for man, his days are like grass;
he flourishes like a flower of the field;
16 for the wind passes over it, and it is gone,
and its place knows it no more.
17 But the steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him,
and his righteousness to children's children,
18 to those who keep his covenant
and remember to do his commandments.
19 The Lord has established his throne in the heavens,
and his kingdom rules over all.

20 Bless the Lord, O you his angels,
you mighty ones who do his word,
obeying the voice of his word!
21 Bless the Lord, all his hosts,
his ministers, who do his will!
22 Bless the Lord, all his works,
in all places of his dominion.
Bless the Lord, O my soul!

Beautiful are the feet...

These are the feet of a child in a squatter camp. She had no shoes. And she is just one of so many. Too many.

And God is so good. He provided 81 pairs of shoes and warm soapy water...and we washed 81 pairs of the most beautiful feet in the universe.

Praise Him for the opportunity to show these children the love of Christ.

Familiar Feelings..

Its about 11:30...

I am listening to a mix on my ipod specified for the place where I headed...

Feelings and expectations are being made, and I am excited to be shocked by the way that God will shatter those expectations...

I, like a kid on Christmas, can't sleep...

I can't wait to step off the plane and find my heart... right where I left it.

Psalm 73:25,26

"Whom have I in heaven but You? And besides You, I desire nothing on earth. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever."

I am finding more and more that I am so unbelievably flawed. Many of you who know me best know this as fact. My heart and my flesh fail often.

Thankfully, God gives me strength and His mercies are new every single morning. In that I am lacking nothing. I don't need a thing. And whats more I don't want a thing...but of course HIM.

With all that said... the 19th can't get here soon enough!!!!

Psalm 93:4

"Mightier than the thunder of the great waters, mightier than the breakers of the sea--the LORD on high is mighty"

A good friend of mine, Philip, told me a story of when he had moved to Zimbabwe when he was very young. Fresh out of high school, looking for some adventure...and really trying to figure out exactly what he wanted to do. Frustrated at not being able to "hear God's voice" on the matter, he decided he would take a hike one day in the beautiful planes of Zimbabwe.

Philip's heart was heavy with the decisions he was facing. Should he go back to the states? Should he return and go to college? Should he stay in Zimbabwe? Would he have enough money to do so? As his mind wandered so did he... with the rumble of Victoria Falls in the background. As he walked he prayed and asked God for guidance. A voice of some kind to tell him what to do. As he neared the end of his hike he stumbled upon what you see in the picture above this post.

Philip told me this story when my family and I went to visit him on Holiday when I was staying in South Africa. We hiked to the very same spot. My sister took this picture. I have meant to post a blog on it for some time but it seems so appropriate now that as I prepare for my short return and Satan tries to distract that I stumbled upon this picture.

God is so good... and He is so much bigger than all of our momentary troubles!!!

Amen.
